The History of Medical Marijuana
Medical marijuana, also known as Cannabis, and spelled Marihuana in legal documentation, has had critics and supporters for thousands of years. Medical marijuana is simply a natural option for patients who choose to use it rather than rely on prescription pills or other pharmaceutical drugs. Cannabis has been used for medicinal purposes for approximately 4,000 years. In the early 3rd century AD, Hua Tuo was the first known person in China to use cannabis as an anesthetic. Cannabis was prescribed to treat vomiting and hemorrhaging. Since then, Cannabis has been used in Ancient Egypt, India and many Islamic countries for medicinal purposes.

How Does Someone Get Medical Marijuana?
Since 1996, sixteen states have legalized medical marijuana: Alaska, California, Colorado, DC, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, Michigan, Montana, Nevada, NewJersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington. These states each have their individual conditions of use. Typically, states have a system with the health administration that issues ID cards for patients and caregivers (a caregiver is someone that grows medical marijuana for the patient.) The health conditions for obtaining a card can range from stomach cramps, chronic pain, nausua, cancer, and aids. You can read our Frequently Asked Questions page for more details.
How Does Medical Marijuana
Differ From Any Other Bag of Weed?
In one word, stable genetics. They both start as a seed but the quality and genetics of the seed is where they usually differ. Marijuana has as many hybrids and genetic combinations as people do. There are two basic types of genetic building blocks for marijuana – indica and sativa. Indica cannabis is described to have an effect mainly to a person’s body like a numbing effect. Sativas have more of a head effect altering the person’s perceptions. Marijuana has different phenotypes, depending on what each seed is comprised of for its building blocks. Medicinal marijuana patients can now have a specific type of cannabis that they prefer. If a patient prefers a slow, gradual relief effect with fruity after taste, they can have that. Or if a patient needs a fast pain relief that takes effect almost immediately, they can have that as well. Different hybrids have been produced for different needs. There is a whole culture of individuals worldwide who have studied the science behind breeding different cannabis genotypes to create new hybrids. These individuals have perfected the science so that each hybrid they produce can have a different taste and effect. A few of these experts have joined our team here at Medical Marijuana Education, and shared their knowledge with us! To grow marijuana medicinally you need information about the hybrid process and about the intricate growing procedure. We have this information for you. Read on.
